Not Everybody Can Travel On The Ferry Between Aqaba And Taba!

The start of the new Aqaba ferry to Egypt was good news for those who wanted to travel from Jordan to Egypt or the other way around.

Besides the regular slow and fast ferries operated by AB Maritime on the Nuweiba-Aqaba route, there is now a new Aqaba ferry to Egypt. This touristic line is a recently added service, offering a first class travel experience to passengers between Jordan and Egypt. This ferry sails between Taba, Sinai and Aqaba.

The company responsible for sales and marketing of this new ferry to Egypt is Meenagate Marine Transport & Watersports, working in trusty and healthy partnership with AB Maritime, as the sole agent to arrange all reservations and logistic operation matters with all tour operators in Egypt and Jordan.
Their main priority is to offer clients safety, fixed guaranteed timetable, personal contact and first class services.




Babel, the high speed catamaran, is the latest added vessel to Arab Bridge Maritime company's fleet.

This is a passanger-only boat with 188 seats, no options for cars. If you want to travel with your car, you need to book directly with AB Maritime on the commercial line.

Bikes are allowed on board, but need to be requested in advance.

Port Info and Departures

Aqaba Port: Royal Yacht Club

Departure from Aqaba: 18.00h in the evening - passengers need to be at the port 1 hour in advance.

The Royal Yacht Club is conveniently located in the downtown of Aqaba, at the Ayla Circle, next to McDonald's.
It's within a 10-15 minutes walking distance from most Aqaba downtown hotels and in a cca. 10-minutes taxi ride from hotels on the South Beach.

Note: in case of bad weather and rough sea conditions, the timetable can change a bit.


Taba Marina

Departure from Taba: 6.30h in the morning, Egypt time - passengers need to be at the port by 5:00h, ie. one hour in advance.


Booking Your Ticket

Bookings needs to be done at least 24 hours in advance by email, phone, fax or in person. In the future online booking will be possible.

Travelers need to send passport copy by e-mail or fax.

Meenagate will confirm the booking by e-mail and provide travelers with all the further details they need to know.

The tickets will be issued at the harbour, or can be collected at the office in Aqaba.

Ticket Prices & Payment Info

Travelers can book ROUND TICKETS ONLY on the Taba-Aqaba line, due to authority rules.

Validation of the ticket is 7 days only.

If you want to travel one way, you will have to travel via Nuweiba on the commercial line of AB Maritime.

Round Ticket Prices

  • Adults: USD 75 + USD 25 (taxes)
  • Children between the ages of 6 and 12: USD 45 + USD 25 (taxes)
  • Children between the ages of 2 and 6: USD 40 + USD 20 (taxes)

Children younger than 2 travel free.

Prices include all Aqaba and Tababa Marina Fees, Egypt Departure Tax, Soft Drink and Snack on board, Refreshing Towel.

Please note that the Jordan departure tax (JD 10) is NOT included in the ticket price.

Payment Info

When traveling from Taba to Aqaba: Cash on day of departure to Meenagate's representative in Nuweiba in the harbour.

When traveling from Aqaba to Taba: Cash upon collecting the tickets at Meenagate's office.

Preferred currency: JD or USD.


Good To Know

Some nationalities need a visa for Egypt.

Travelers entering Jordan at Aqaba are granted a free ASEZ (Aqaba Special Economic Zone) visa that is valid for all of Jordan. The validity of this visa is one month.

To get to Taba port by 5.00h in the morning you might want to spend the night before close to the Taba Marina. There is a cool search tool that helps you find the best hotel deals in Taba.

Public transport does not go regularly to Taba.

Smoking is allowed only on the outside deck of the boat.
