Guides of Wadi Rum

by Abdullah
(Wadi Rum)

Abdullah Ali from Guides of Wadi Rum is a very experienced guide.

As a member of the Zelabea tribe he has lived in Wadi Rum all his life. He grew up in a tent which was replaced in the desert every few months. Therefore he knows the area perfectly and he has many stories to share with you about his life in the desert.

In 2000 Abdullah started his own camp in the desert where already many people experienced his hospitality and knowledge of the area.

He is an excellent cook. Breakfast and diner will mostly be served in the camp but lunch will be somewhere in the desert, cooked on an open fire.

In the camp there are large traditional Bedouin tents in which you can spend the night. There are also smaller tents for people who prefer more privacy.
Mattresses, blankets and pillows are provided by us, but if you wish you can also carry your mattress outside and sleep in the moonlight while you watch the millions of stars that light the sky.
This will be a night you will never forget!

Water will be provided by us. In Wadi Rum we have an aquifer, which means that the ground holds water. This water is very pure and excellent for drinking. We also provide bottled mineral water.

Shower and toilet are available in the camp. At night we sit by the fire, eat, drink tea, chat and have a wonderful, relaxing time!

We can also organise accomodation in bivouac in the desert for small groups. In this case, we provide matresses and can provide small "igloo" tents. We advise you bring your own sleeping bags to make sure you are perfectely comfortable

Disappointed!
by: G & J

Disappointed with the tour & overnight stay with Abdullah. Reasons: looking at the itinerary he skipped the Nabataean Temple, the hike in Burrah Canyon & visit to sunset point. In the afternoon we were left for 2+ hours at the camp alone. In the evening he took us to his family tent and left us to roam for several hours serving us only chicken mansef for dinner & in a pitch black tent while he & his family sat by a roaring fire next door! There was no buffet! We just could not see what we were eating! It turned out to be chicken & rice.
Back at the camp, & it was not tents but cabins there was no light whatsover! No candles, nowt! The toilets were not clean and it was impossible to see anything. He did find a single candle but with no matches once it was lit we had to protect it in our cabin as if it went out we would have no light at all! He drove off & we had no option but to go to bed: no campfire, no water, no soft drinks.
Sorry to say but the next morning I was covered in bites..........not mozzies but bed bugs!
Abdullah & family were very friendly but he really needs to up his game to keep his customers satisfied! Sorry Abdullah, as I did like you & your family but felt very disappointed with the trip!

AMMAN AIRPORT TRANSFER

Amman Airport Private Arrival/Departure Transfer

Reviewed by Donald G, May 2011:

"Driver and vehicle were very acceptable - and in light of the driving/vehicle conditions in Amman this was most welcome. The service is on the expensive side when compared with the local taxi service but, in my opinion, most worthwhile. The driver was welcoming and very helpful. Luggage handling was completely handled at both ends of the trip in a very professional manner. I would definitely use this service again."
