How to get to the public beaches in Aqaba?

Q: I have a question regarding the public beaches in South Aqaba.

I will pass an afternoon in Aqaba and my son would like to do some snorkeling.

I read that I can go to the beaches in South Aqaba but I do not know how. is there a shuttle from the city to the beaches?

Which are the most beautiful ones?
Plus be informed that unfortunately I have just 3 hours free.

A:
There is a public bus going to South Beach and it departs from the Aqaba Castle (near the big flagpole). The fare is 0.5 JD.

However, since you will have limited time, maybe it is better to take a taxi because the public bus doesn't have a fixed timetable and maybe you have to wait 25-30 minutes.

the taxi fare should be around 5-6 JD from the downtown.

The nice snorkeling areas with free access (public beach) are located after the Berenice Beach Club and before Tala Bay resort.

If you don't have your own snorkeling gear you can rent from Darna Divers Village and the guys there can show you the best snorkeling locations too.
