Refreshing Mint Ice Tea

Mint ice tea

Here is my recipe of the Refreshing Mint Ice Tea.

To get 1.5 liter of ice tea, I fill up a metal kettle (500 ml) with water, add 6-7 tablespoons of sugar and bring them to boil.

(I believe the 'secret' of the Arabic tea is boiling the sugar together with the water instead of sweetening afterwards. Try it, really tastes different!)

When the water is boiling, put in fresh mint leaves according to taste (I like it very 'minty'!) and a teabag.

I use Rabea which is a fine black tea blended and packed in Saudi Arabia, but you can use any other brand.

Then I just leave it to cool and when it's not so hot any more I add fresh lemon juice. (Hot temperature 'kills' vitamin C.)

Later I pour the tea into an empty 1.5 liter mineral water bottle and add some non-fizzy mineral water to fill up the bottle.

Store it in the fridge and serve with ice cubes, mint leaves and lemon.

Cheers!
