Zedane is showing how the Bedouins used to bake their bread in the desert

Greetings from Wadi Rum Desert! I'm Zedane Al-Zalabieh and I look forward to hosting you at my camp. I provide jeep tours in the desert and can arrange camel rides, hikes, and climbing excursions.

On the jeep tour you can see Lawrence's Spring, Khazali Siq, the sand dune, the Anfashieh inscriptions, Lawrence's House, Burdah Arch, and the Um Frouth Arch. You will be in the white desert.

At the end of the day, you will be in my camp for sunset - The Bedouin Meditation Camp, which is 15 kilometers from the village of Rum, inside the protected area. There you will find a hot shower, toilet, mattresses and blankets, and Bedouin tents. You can see the sunrise, and have dinner and breakfast around the campfire.

If you would like to stay on for a second night, we can host you in a cave, same as the life of the Bedouins many years ago, before they started to live in the tents.

We welcome people from all over the world, all cultures and ages.

I spent quite a while there as a volunteer, which was most enjoyable. There's a new website for this camp by the way at
http://wadirum.comlu.com/
Maybe someone can update this page.

Omar Shariff 1999 in Hotel Mövenpick-Aqaba
by: Mike

Hi, my friend Zedan!

I think, you will remember me. My name is Mike. We worked together two times.
At first in the movie "Going Public" with Omar Shariff and one year later, when I shot the documentation "Jordan-The Holy Land".
We had much fun and I think about coming back next year to Jordan.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Your friend Mike.

New Year's Eve Party at the Bedouin Meditation Camp
by: Lilla

We spent the New Year's Eve in 2001 with our Jordanian friends in Zedane's camp together with a family from Austria.

After watching the sunset we spent most of the night sitting around the fire inside the Bedouin tent talking and then cooking and eating the most delicious fried chicken with some potato and vegetables.

Later same Bedouin musicians came with their instruments and played until midnight when we were asked to go out of the tent and see the new year's date, 2002, made up from real flames of fire in the distance. I don't know how they did it, they must have put some torches or something on a sand dune.

After some star gazing and wishing each other Happy New Year we wrapped ourselves in the warm blankets provided by the camp and slept until morning.

Zedane made us a nice breakfast and even showed us how the Bedouins used to bake their own bread in the fire.

After breakfast we helped to collect some firewood for the camp and headed back to Aqaba.

It was a very special way to start a New Year, thanks Zedane!

PS:
Advice for anyone camping in Wadi Rum in the winter: Bring WARM clothes! The nights are freezing cold in January!

AMMAN AIRPORT TRANSFER

Amman Airport Private Arrival/Departure Transfer

Reviewed by Donald G, May 2011:

"Driver and vehicle were very acceptable - and in light of the driving/vehicle conditions in Amman this was most welcome. The service is on the expensive side when compared with the local taxi service but, in my opinion, most worthwhile. The driver was welcoming and very helpful. Luggage handling was completely handled at both ends of the trip in a very professional manner. I would definitely use this service again."
