Wadi Rum Trekking - Khaled's Camp

by Khaled Mohammad Al Zalabia
(Jordan, Wadi Rum Desert)

Khaled's Camp in Wadi Rum

Khaled's Camp in Wadi Rum

Khaled's Camp in Wadi Rum Shai, anyone? :)

At Wadi Rum Trekking we are Bedouin team from Wadi Rum Desert, providing full service and hospitality in our homeland.

We do hiking, climbing, jeep and camel tours, camping, orginising outdoor events in the desert.

We are willing to share our stories with you, our culture and way of living. Along with us, you will enjoy the Bedouin food, prepared by local people, such as Mansaf which is the national Bedouin dish with rice and meat cooked in a local salty yoghurt and Zarb, which is meat and vegetables cooked 2 hours in an oven under the sand.

Our camp is located in the sunset area, where you will be accommodated in nice, warm, clean, private tents. There is a bathroom with toilets and shower and a main living tent, where we altogether gather and have our meals around the fire.

Be welcome.

What an amazing place!
by: Nicola

I booked our stay at Wadi Rum with no idea of what to expect, it was a bit of an add on to the main part of our trekking holiday. we were only there for 2 nights but I have have withdrawal symptons after such a short time and will be going back. The Sunset camp is so well named, a clear view of one of the most beautiful sunset scenes I have seen. the different colours of the sand and rock types was amazing. Khaled and his family were excellent hosts and arranged our short stay having consideration for our interest in walking. The food was fantastic, thanks to young Hammett, and the other company was good. Our walk on the second day was truly spectactular looking towards Saudi Arabia and the bedouin tea brewed on little campfires was just what was needed after a brisk climb.
The accomodation was much better than we had expected with beautiful bedrooms which made my mum very happy. The main tent was traditional with mattresses and cushions to sit and lean on and added to the authenticity of our stay.
I am going back because it was not only incredibly beautiful and in the most wonderful position, but for the hospitality of Khaled and his family. Top marks all round.

real bedouin hospitality
by: Geertje

After a welcome tea at his house, Khaled showed us the map of the desert, explaining all possibilities he could offer. Hiking, walking, jeep and camel tours. We had a jeep tour in the afternoon. Khaled, born in desert, explained a lot and gave us all time to enjoy the place. After we went to the camp, which was like paradise. A marvelous spot in sunset area, good tents, clean shower and bathrooms and above a all his fiendly bedouin staff. He took us uphill, to see the sunset, we got a delecious zarb meal and stayed around the fire, drinking tea and dancing. Khaled is unbelievable friendly to everybody and we felt like family, together with the other guest. Next day we had another jeep tour in this amazing landscape. Khaled and his brothers made our stay in desert unforgettable.I just can say; Go and experience by yourself. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place to stay in wadi rum
by: Anonymous

There is no words to express the beauty of the Wadi Rum, the location of the camp and Khaled's hospitality. The view of the camp is simply gorgeous and Khaled's team treated us like princesses. We spent one unforgetable night there, enjoying the Bedouin-cooked food and talking long around the fire. Strongly recommended!

Amazing!!
by: Anonymous

Having really no idea about Wadi Rum I arrived at the gateway to the desert to be met by a very professional host. The camp was beyond all expectations; Bedouin, very clean and in an amazing setting. The hosts went out of their way to make the experience one to remember, visiting many desert sites which were awesome and offered superb photo shots. The atmosphere in Wadi Rum is truly amazing and really gives the tourist an insight into the lives of the people of the desert but it also allows the tourist to experience the sheer magic of the place. A blissfully peaceful, serene and melancholy place. Recommend a visit to anyone. Khaled and his team were superb.

Hi to Wadi Rum Trekking. I was with them with my friend for two nights in the camp and it was amazing time. The team was extremely friendly and experienced. We slept under the stars and we enjoyed the funny stories of our Bedouin hosts. The camp was very clean and it is located in the sunset area, where the landscape is breath-taking. Thank you, guys, we'll never forget our time in Wadi Rum.

Magnificent night in the desert
by: karlos ferreira

Me and my wife spent 2 fabulous days and nights with Khaled and his team. We did a camel tour and some hiking, having launch in the nature, where the team had prepared everything for us in advance. Khaled and his brother Salem are cheerful and you would love their jokes and company.

The nights in the camp was amazing - we slept under the stars around a fire, where we listened and watched the bedouin songs and dances. The camp was a lovely and clean place and we wish to greet our friends and wish them good luck. It was a great choice to select this guy.

Khaled's camp is simply the best
by: Kalina Pavlova

Briefly, my story is that I found myself in love with Wadi Rum desert and I have been living here for more than 3 months. Before moving to Khaled's camp I spent a long time in different camps around the protected area and I can say that there are huge difference between the camps. For one and the same price you can find bad service and dirty place or clean and well-maintained camp with frienly people.

As I am living in Khaled's camp at the moment after going through most of the local camps here I can assure anyone that he will experience quiet, cosy and beautiful staying in a friendly and cheerful atmosphere. The service of Khaled is excellent and so that the way he treats his guests. The camp is in perfect condition, with warm, private tents, a lot of blankets, clean bathroom with shower and a beautiful location with a view of the sunset direction.

Khaled offers all kind of programme, including hiking, climbing, camel and jeep tours, he even organises marathon racing from Petra to Wadi Rum :)
He is warm-hearted, kind and shiny person with excellent English and proper attitude to his guests. I enjoy staying at his camp, giving hand in his work and can honestly highly, highly recommend his service and camp.

AMMAN AIRPORT TRANSFER

Amman Airport Private Arrival/Departure Transfer

Reviewed by Donald G, May 2011:

"Driver and vehicle were very acceptable - and in light of the driving/vehicle conditions in Amman this was most welcome. The service is on the expensive side when compared with the local taxi service but, in my opinion, most worthwhile. The driver was welcoming and very helpful. Luggage handling was completely handled at both ends of the trip in a very professional manner. I would definitely use this service again."
