BREAKING NEWS, 25 June 2011: Wadi Rum has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a mixed site displaying unique natural beauty and cultural significance.

Should you seek a hide-away to meditate or challenging adventures, one thing is for sure: nobody can walk away untouched by its grandiosity.

Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is located opposite the mountain called the Seven Pillars of Wisdom, named after Lawrence of Arabia's book.

This is the main gateway to the protected area and has all the facilities, information and services visitors will need, including reception areas, exhibition halls, restaurants and craft shops.

The jeep tours start from here and this is the place where visitors have to pay the entrance fees to the protected area.

Entrance fees:
Non-Jordanian tourists: 5 JD
Jordanians and residents: 1 JD
Jordanian students: 0.50 JD
Children under 12 years: free

So all visitors are required to call in before proceeding with their itinerary. Tourists taking in private 4x4 vehicles also need to register at the Visitors Center.

Desert Tours & Guides

Most people discover the desert by jeep tours - they can last from several hours to several days - but camel rides and special trekking and climbing tours can also be arranged with local Bedouin Guides as well as overnight stays in a Bedouin camp.
